Ain't rich, so I'm not that smart, but...
Take what you learned about app delivery and start your app #2.

This time, instead of enhancing sample code, start by asking friends
(preferably those who don't know what is easy and hard to code)
either what they'd like to do on their phone that they cannot, or what
they currently do that should be easier.

Perhaps, take something you did for a pc and subdivide, edit, and
adapt for Android. iPhone version, maybe?

Alternatively, add the experience to the resume and get a job
consulting for companies that have marketing wings and are venturing
into the new platform.

Really, though, my advice is to treat the app like a commercial song,
or screenplay. Get it right, pitch it everywhere one can, and if people
pass, start a new one. Keep moving. Once something sells, then all
the shelved items come back into play.

One other bit of advice, and I relay this from one of the smartest
people at making money I ever met, remember that marketing is very
simple, it's telling people who care that you have something they
want.
