Thanks for Covering This
One request, could you also give us some information regarding the
papers' abstracts? After all, some of those papers may be
demonstrating why a concept does not live up to its expectations.
After the talk is concluded, will papers be available on the internet for
review?

From my seat in Row ZZ, here's what I think is going on. As compared
to us in the US, European academicians seem to prefer and teach
languages which utilize functional programming concepts, of which
immutability and inexpensive recursion are key. In commerce,
enterprises which need fast answers to complex questions or from a
large domain are into fp already. We hear of use of OCaml, F#, Haskell
in the financial industries and mapreduce over at Google.

As promising as functional programming concepts are, and we are
seeing language vendors/designers put fp semantics and symbols into
imperative C-based languages (which I think means punting the
parallelization to the compiler and runtime), we are faced with
hectares of C code, written and patched and patched and patched
utilizing state read, lock, and change paradigms and I wonder just
who is going to go back and make it 21st parallel/concurrent century
ready?

Any way, again thanks for covering these talks and I hope further
dispatches will pop into view.
