Interesting
Dell should be wary with home users and Linux.

- Make sure the home user understands that you can't just walk into Wal-Mart and purchase software that will run on Linux

- Warn users that just buying any cheap peripheral may not work with Linux

- Dell may want to create a simple method for installing proprietary drivers, software, and codecs. Home users are going to expect to get full 3D support from video, have java and flash for Internet and codecs for playing audio and video files.

There is probably more stuff but I can't think of it right now.

If Dell chooses to allow Linux on home user system without making these things clear/easy then it could very well blow up in their face.

I would also recommend (for the short term) including Microsoft Windows XP license and restore CD so that the home user could switch over to Windows easily if Linux doesn't fit their needs.
