The web as your IT department!

I think that mainly small businesses will lead the way in the adoption of Enterprise Web 2.0 type applications.
They don't have big IT departments to build or maintain a traditional software infrastructure, so they'll benefit even more from web-based applications. The web will be their IT department!

Obviously, big enterprises can profit from these applications too, but I think they are more likely to host them themselves on their intranet, rather than to use them from the web, although eventually even big enterprises might decide to 'use the web as their IT department'.

In any case, Enterprise Web 2.0 will make it possible for small businesses to have a software infrastructure as good as, or even better than that of big enterprises.

And we're only at the beginning...
