Google Apps is not Firefox
I agree. Firefox works because it's better than IE6 or IE7. Google Apps isn't better, overall than Office. I use Google Apps and enjoy it. It's collaboration features are the main reason I prefer it to MS Office, but I'm not a power user. For power and business users, they may use Google Apps, but they're still buying Office.

Google apps isn't going to take a lot of market share from Office, but it will nip at Microsoft's heals. Microsoft is in trouble. The combination of Open Office and Google Apps is going to be real danger to Office.

Let's face it, Bill Gates became the richest man in the world because MS Office was a cover charge for anyone that wanted to do anything on a computer. For the basic user, they don't have to pay the $300 cover charge anymore to view a Word document or Excel spreadsheet. The "easy" money is gone for Microsoft. It's going to take a long time to humble this giant. Besides, Microsoft can always go down in price for Office, Google Apps and Open Office can't.
