- Does shovel-ware lower the cost of the box?

Namely, do those companies that have the software preloaded pay Dell to do so, and does Dell pass that cost savings along? I'm willing to spend a few minutes removing stuff if it saves me money up front.
The only thing I would like to see change is how trialware AV is handled. Most machines I deal with that are having virus/malware problems have a copy of Norton AV on them, 4+ months out of date.
