What bloggers have to ask themselves
If a blogger professes to be a "citizen-journalist", how well does he/she follow the canons of the journalistic profession? So, my dear bloggers:

If you're really a journalist, are your standards closer to the New York Times, or the National Enquirer (or Weekly World News)? If you profess to be a commentator on public affairs, are you closer to George Will or Rush Limbaugh?

If you really want the professionals to take you seriously (maybe even quote you or interview you), you have to act like a professional, even if you're doing it for free. Otherwise, you're just some guy with a website.
