where is the mechanism to forestall the "the miners are alive!!" story.?
Raw feed is fine for anyone able to evaluate it critically, but in giving people the ability to "create their own Nightly News" how do you also give them tools to evaluate the worth of the raw information they have received.
It is something that 24 news channels themselves struggle with and they HAVE the tools (allegedly). While it can be accepted that most stories will tend towards truth over time..........how do you prevent hysteria in the meantime.
If we accept that free speech doesn't allow us to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre - does it not also follow that a "raw shot" of a close up of cigarette smoke in the same theatre should be likewise be prohibited? - Posted by: Dave F_z Posted on: 01/22/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
