Buzz words

Why do they call it the cloud, i've been working with "cloud" technology for about 8 years and will soon be launching what we call an inner web server which according to the current buzz word is the "cloud".... or enables the cloud to function as such.

Because of our experience with "cloud" technology and wireless technology we see the cloud very differently (wireless applications floating through time and space much like clouds through the sky but much faster) while the internet has a background role as a vechicle between wireless and wired devices.

We no longer see the internet at the forefront, but much like the electricity grid, we use it everyday in many different ways for many different purposes with out even thinking about it, even further down the line we see the internet becoming almost obsolete as wireless (wifi/wimax) coverage extends its reach and becomes the new internet.

The only use for the internet will be as a bridge between remote wireless networks and associated applications/services(which we call clouds).... yeah i think i've gone way off the mark but wanted to give my view of what the cloud should and will look like in the future and not this version being touted because no-one really knows how to be build an ad-less revenue model for the internet as it stands now.

Maybe i'm just a wireless tech fanatic, but its the vision we are building as we speak.
