Huh? More software makes Apple less popular?
A point that everyone seems to be missing is that every piece of "software as a service" over the internet increases Apple's appeal.

The standard knock against Apple is that a Mac user doesn't have the variety of software available to him/her that a PC user does. The more services that are delivered over the internet the more it suits Apple.

If most of your core products--like Office, email, SMB/personal accounting--were available to everyone over the internet, do you really think that most people would prefer to access it using a PC?

[And let's be clear about my agenda here: I've never been a Mac user in the past but I would be in the future if the software was there.]
