At the urging of family members who love
Burning Man and have been going for years, I
attended the festival last year. The whole
thing is a joke.

It's a big party, basically. The "art" is for
the most part incredibly bad. You have to give
about 10% of the people there an A for effort
in terms of building the stuff, but the reality
there is that almost all the attendees are
spectators, there to get wasted and hopefully
laid.

I wouldn't mind this at all if the attendees
were honest about it--but almost everyone
claims they're there for the "community" or the
"art" or the "freedom". Freedom to drink until
you puke, maybe.

Maybe at one point Burning Man was about these
things, but it's not now. People attending
should expect a party, which may or may not be
fun depending on how you feel about breathing
in copious amounts of dust. That's all it is.
