Trend Micro Has a low detection of Malware threats-Subpar protection
In certified Lab tests Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 failed to detect Polymorphic Malware (icsa Labs), and had a dismal detection rate of 69% In recent [2009] Testing (a decent Antivirus/Antimalware program catches at least 98%). The program let three out of every 10 pieces of malicious software get past it (AV-test.org), and has poor Hueristic detection of New and emerging malware threats.
Trend Micro has consistently failed to recieve any VB100 Certification for its products from Virus Bulletin- When even free programs like Avast! and Avira, and Norton and Eset NOD32 consistantly, year after year recieve said VB100, and Advanced++ certification from AV-Comparatives.

I strongly recommend against buying, or using Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 (or any Trend Micro Product) due to its ineffectiveness- Otherwise, you may find your self with a malware and virus infected system, corrupted data, and even the inability to boot up Windows.
