If we expect net neutrality....
to work, services that compete against traditional telecommunication services must be treated the same as the services they compete against. Simply because it is web based does not make it something other than what it actually is - telecommunications. Plus, they both are using the same infrastructure to deliver the service.

At some point the service of providing the infrastructure is going to have to be divested from the services that use the infrastructure. Then we are going to have to step back and reevaluate the difference between telephone and data services and see there is basically no difference and start treating both of them the same way. Especially since voice is being transmitted digitally more and more.

This is the only way that competition can truly determine the fate of the internet infrastructure as well as the services that use that infrastructure service. Otherwise we can look forward to massive new regulations that will continually be challenged in both the judicial courts and the court of opinion. Which in turn will lead to higher costs and the consumer getting the short end of the stick.
