am I concerned?
No. Unless they can supply some data showing the effect of searching and surfing is really huge. I regard using the web as a nearly essential part of living like driving or watching TV. I am happy for the moment knowing Google is using as environmentally sound systems as possible. I still have hope that sensible measures will save the planet without having to go back to living in mud huts without electricity.

It's all a matter of degree I suppose. If the effect is huge I would be willing to curtail my incessant surfing to a degree.

OTOH if there are any very agressive green advocates out there who have been googling and surfing without thought to its effect this should give them pause to reassess their habits. It might indeed by hypocritical to tell others to give up their cars while you sit at home twittering and surfing all day for no particular purpose.
