Sorry, the browser will never replace the OS.

The OS provides hardware abstraction and application launching for the user, as well as management of local machine resources. I don't see that going away, ever.

The browser may replace some applications, but it doesn't provide any sort of hardware abstraction, and is pretty poor at managing applications. The OS still has to take care of that.

We may see some merging of the two in some areas perhaps, but the OS will never be completely replaced.
