Computing "liberty" is having your information on somebody else's machine?
"Computing liberty depends upon separating the services provider/content provider from the computer hardware and operating system."

Yeah, that's what they say. Problem is, this is just nonsensical. The whole idea of service providers is nonsensical. It's merely an excuse to grab power away from the user and give it to large companies who pretend to be "the cloud."

"I see another M$ coming along."

Don't you know Microsoft practically invented the idea of "services provider/content provider?" Do you think integration of IE into Windows was an accident? ActiveX is an early attempt at it, as was Microsoft's first JVM. Of course this is another M$ coming along. Anybody who follows the "services provider/content provider" path is another M$ coming along.

This has been Microsoft's dream since the beginning. Except this time they're not a monopoly anymore.

And believe me, this is not the future of any sort of "liberty." "The cloud" is moving to take complete control of your information and computational power away from you. How can you call that liberty?
