I don't think it will be Google vs Apple.

Just think about it. How many people who buy the mobile phone really do care about the OS? I believe that more than 50% of people who bought I-Phone don't really give a **it about what was running on the phone. I bet some of them even had absolutely no idea what on earth MAC OS is. Most of people who used the phone really care about either the brand of the phone or something physical like the design or its solid features.
And that means, once it releases, the phone will be known to be just "the another new HTC model with some cool Google name on the features list". Thus it's will become HTC or whatever brand vs Apple which we all has already known who is going to win.
