This makes using the iPhone faster and easier to use. If the legions at MSFT were capable of innovation, they would be doing this instead of mindlessly shoveling in more "features".
With the wonderful Safari iPhone browser that you actually enjoy using (rather than that pigsh!t WM browser that works only 1/3rd of the time), the iPhone user actually uses his device to access the internet.
google extends the user friendliness.
