I'd be wary of reading too much into this happy
Hey there,

I work for Google and I've seen this sort of confusion before so I figured I'd set the record straight.

Often times, folks register domain names with Google in them... occasionally just on a lark. And frequently they end up ultimately giving the domains to Google.

So just because you see something like GoogleTeleportation does not prove that we're trying to take on the travel industry, for instance. A Star Trek fan may have registered the domain, then later transferred it to us and we're stuck with it... at least for the year happy.

...which, interestingly enough, was the cause of some speculation by the same author as the piece above :P.

So in a nutshell: please take domain name transfers with a large grain of salt.
