Why?
Gmail is good because it offers lots of space and it's generally reliable (less so lately in terms of uptime but still pretty good). But WHY would you use that AJAX interface unless you were on the road and need remote access??? At your home/laptop pc's why not use a dedicated mail client (outlook etc.) that has all those features and handles them much better (as a thick client) and simply use the pop3/smtp interface?
