Difficult to see value here...
Maybe an alternative to Soundfonts, MIDI, and expression tweaking? Possibly a new compression algorithm? Or more expressiveness? Appears to be a lot of brainpower -- but researchers sometimes do fail to recognize an existing solution, and then cheerfully reinvent the wheel...
