Tiny music files almost as good as MP3 ones

I'm not an expert...: ...but from what I can gather, MIDI focused more on generating the proper frequencies at the correct times. This seems to be more foundationally rooted in recreating the physics behind the performance instead of simply generating the tones associated with the notes being played.
