Boron Buckyballs
THis could be the beginning of the technology needed to advance the research into effective methods of containing nuclear waste. Boron is quite effective as a neutron sponge, it's structure absorbs those extra neutrons generated in a reactor core and could be effective in surrounding and confining the highest levels of radiation in nuclear waste. Some effective research and colaboration with the glassification project to bury waste under Yucca mountain and numerous salt mines could be the break-thru that kick starts the world into further reliance upon nuclear power in the face of carbon-dioxide reduction effforts.
