This isn't news
These things have been around for decades - I did some work on them at GE in the early 90's, and even then it was a really old technology. Sure, it's a perfectly fine idea technically, but breeders make lots of plutonium, so they're an even bigger political football than regular ol' light water reactors from a nuclear proliferation standpoint. 2050? More like 2150.
