Dead zone
This area is immediately in shore of the Cascadia Subduction Zone, and this may be some indication of what is happening in that area. We know that dangerous gases are released by volcanos and fissures beneath the surface of the ocean in these hot zones. This may be a zone that is being affected and subsurface currents are being diverted and no allowing the normal mixing of waters immediately off shore from the coast. Some very extensive research is called for, but maybe quite hazardous to divers.
