something's up with your WD drive!
53 seconds to open mail? that's insane. 26 for firefox? i have the same system with the 7200 rpm drive, and though i would expect it to be faster than the 5400, it opens firefox in a couple seconds.

yes, the SSD seems really fast but the WD is way too slooooooow.

edit: wait, sorry. i don't have the same system. mine's a 2.8 with 4 gigs of ram. oops. still, though, 26 seconds is a long, long time to open firefox. my girlfriend's 1.25 ghz G4 doesn't take that long to open it.
