Apple has nothing to do with the piracted software botnet
This is to anwer Jason's: "steer clear of the virus/malware topic, especially in light of the recent Mac botnet that?s been discovered."

On any type of desktop operating system you can write program that will do things like loading internet pages (for DDoS attacks) or sending messages (spam net).

And if you are idiot who downloads pirated software from the garbage bin, and yourself run this, then, of course, there will be a botnet.
