Gift card scammers soliciting iPhone devs

HAHA.. i guess apples security sucks.

Why would they not require a card to be activated via phone or internet from a reputible and tracable sales firm?

Every other gift card on the planet requires this. Could you imagine the havok if someone did this with credit card gift certificates?

The other issue here is now to deal with this issue. They could just refuse to take all cards until they plug the hole. They could change the setup for new cards immediately, but i am sure that would cost a pretty penny and most likely hurt accounts that soley use gift cards.

If they can tell which ones were indeed not paid for, it may be easier to block them or atleast prevent the app owners from collecting the money from sales. They could also hold all sales revenues from apps for 90 days until cards are verified. That may be the easiest and have the least customer impact.

What about those buying songs.. DRM free... do they just shut the account down? By then the user probably downloaded half online collection. They could look for irregular buying patterns.

BTW who buys cards/codes when they know they are not legal and then use them on their account? Why bother with all of that.. just download the stuff from MIrc.
