iPhone 3G transciever
is a piece of junk. It has been problematic since the day they released the unit, and have never been able to resolve issues with it since they've patched it several times already.

It has nothing to do with AT&Ts network. I carry a cheap Samsung 3G phone and a Blackberry 9000 3G smartphone, both of which are on AT&T, have had no problems with them and I've been in the same room and locations with iPhone 3G users who have not been able to make calls.
