Mini cloud computing
I was just thinking about cloud computing in a micro-setting. Right
now PCs are the all-in one machines. That's what makes them
problematic in many ways (at least from my perspective as an
independent computer consultant who does a lot of "help desk" type
work). This won't go away any time soon, but the idea that we have
really simple devices that communicate with other really simple
devices as well as a central server of some kind, seems like it offers
an appeal. With sufficient backup solutions, I would love to see
simplified devices that are inherently far more intuitive, inexpensive
(directly and hopefully environmentally) to replace when they fail, and
focused on a handful of specialized tasks.
