omg NIGHTMARE!
While there's no question this is lame, it's not really worth all the hubbub (but it's about the iPhone, so you have to multiply its significance quotient by 100, right?). You can easily lock this out (remap where the Home double-tap goes), and it's also only relevant to the degree you use the Favorites screen (which I almost never do, though I may be in the minority).

More to the point: if you consider the data in your phone to be safe if it falls into the wrong hands, password or no, you're a fool. Don't lose it, or don't use it, if you want to walk around with nuclear launch codes or incriminating text messages/emails in your pocket. That having been said, let's hope this is fixed soon.

(Full disclosure: I have been quite underwhelmed with my iPhone 3G, as it is slow, buggy and gets poor reception... I am seriously considering going back to my iPhone 1.0... yet I'm still tired of all the iFUD ZDNet keeps pumping out almost every day. Enough already.)
