A Dock

I could imagine an iPod Touch hybrid that would run MacOS X and sync apps and
data with a home system, but it's not likely.

When it comes down to it, what I really want is a dock. I miss my old Duo. If Apple
wants to cut size on connectors, they should sell a laptop with a custom connector
and two available docks, one for desktops, one portable for the road.

As to optical media, I absolutely agree; toss it. I have no problem with external
CD/DVD players/burners so long as I can emergency boot. In fact, I'd prefer it.
Optical speeds and formats change faster than the usual lifetime of my laptops
(about 4-5 years). External is easier to upgrade. At some point I'll probably
replace my MBP's optical with a second drive and run a RAID system.
