I know what you did wrong
After installing the Silicon Image 3132 driver

That was your mistake, you installed a driver. It must have been a Windows driver because Apple tells us in their ads that you don't have to install any drivers when you use OS X, OS X Just Works. There is no such thing as an OS X driver because you don't need them!
