The Mac (without the aid of windows) runs all the major applications that most people use with windows. The mac has many applications that can replace windows apps as well, and some excellent ones that are unavailable on windows (imovie, iphoto, final cut, etc).

If you want to play a lot of games, you don't want either of these computers, though.
