I've read legal ones are coming
But Apple has to finalize a new agreement with the record
companies as ringtones were excluded from the basic iTunes
agreement - understandable when you see what some carriers
charge for theirs.

There will probably be a fee attached to the ones you get from
iTunes. The question is if people who own a CD will be allowed
to put the music from the CD onto the iPhone as a ringtone.
KNowing the record companies they will probably try to fight
that.
