I don't have an iPhone but, I have this film on my 1st generation iPod Nano, my digital camera screen, my PDA and on every portable electronic device with a screen in my household. None of them have scratches at all. The claims on the site are true. It is an excellent product. Well worth the money.

That way you have both protection and un-encumbered beauty of the device.

Although, for a phone, I too would still want a holster.
