Lower cost Mac pros needed more
Right now Apple only offers the mini and Mac pro. The mini is useless for most graphics work and the one Mac pro starts at $2500.

Those of us in graphics have all sorts of reasons ? varied by users ? for not wanting an iMac. Maybe you want internal expansion capability. Maybe you want to use a crt or any different monitor. Maybe you need to add more firewire or usb ports. Whatever the reason, Apple doesn?t offer a reasonable alternative.

If they can sell the 20 inch iMac for $1500 and the 24 inch one for $2000, bot of which include the monitor, they should be able to offer a $1500 Mac pro without the monitor. After all graphics folks are a pretty major part of Apple?s customer base.
