half dozen of another. Like all extremists you paint a nice picture from one perspective. All these internet companies are so innocent and all they want is a fair shake . . . yeah right. In order to maximize profits, they purposely underbuilt their networks. They advertize high speed - but just like speed limit signs on highways during rush hour - it's a joke. Now that they have their customers, they are in no hurry to add capacity.

If the internet providers got their wish and shot down network neutrality, would they use it to invest in their networks - or force customers to pay more to get the service they were initially promised? I see no incentive to spend money on upgrading, until and unless customers start going elsewhere. And where can they go? There's no competition out there right now. Maybe WiMAX or power line internet can make inroads in the future, but right now there are only a handful of players.

Government regulations are not always bad! I know that's anathema to a rightist like you - but it was born out over the last 8+ years. Bush eliminated regulations as fast as he spent money and increased government - and where are we now? LET'S BLAME OBAMA!

Like all regulations, this one will create a new playing field. A few will learn the system and flourish - while the dinosaurs will complain about the oncoming asteroid . . .
