Don't know what to say
Sun always had good people. Their service orgs were always top notch, even as they changed to cheaper and cheaper vendors (Kodak?). Their equipment ranged from capable (SPARC10/20) to world-beater. SunOS was rock-solid, and the Solaris migration was pretty rough at the beginning (Solaris 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 were terrible).

But it was the smug attitude of Sun Biggots that hurt the company. These annoying pests would demand SUN! as the solution for ANY project - while continually listing the shortcomings of competitors. It got so bad at Ford that when I started succeeding at making HP a viable platform on equal footing with Sun (including getting HP support to up their game), I was summarily removed from my position and stuck in a corner - by Sun Biggots. They were afraid of any HP successes. I like Sun as a platform, but biggots treating it as superior - all of the time, grated on my nerves.

As for helping them out, I will expend my energy in proportion to how many of them drive Big 3 brand vehicles. I would assume that since we in Michigan are going through tough times that they would be sympathetic to our plight too. So (using that logic) how much Sun equipment should a company like Ford purchase?

NOTE: HP support services purchased hundreds of Ford fleet vehicles.
