There's interest from SMEs

We've had a few of our customers (all SME's) asking about this. One customer uses a hosting providing to run their public facing web site, which is mainly static content, but they also upload order tracking data on a daily basis, for customer access. There's a couple of smaller apps on there too. We've been looking at Azure as a way of unifying all this (though as its still in CTP/pre-beta, no one is putting anything into production yet).

We also see a lot of these companies already using things like Zimbra and Office Live, especially for creating project work areas. When I've asked about how worried they are about downtime, they generally say that this stuff only ever seems to go down for a couple of hours (if at all), and they can live with that.

What concerns me most is not the technology in the cloud, but the local internet connection. Ironically, the customer I mentioned with the hosted website moved it off-site exactly because there local internet connection was less reliable than the provider's.

However, I can see this really taking off in the SME space.
