Only Microsoft is forever
Most wintel users I know have placed big bets on this company or that providing long term solutions. So far it's never proven true for any of them except with respect to Microsoft, where the change has been in the products rather than the company name.

Did you know that someone who built an application in C or Unify Accell for Unix in 1989 could recompile and run tomorrow? it's true - and know how many Wintel applications from even ten years ago have similar unchanged survivability? That's right - none.
