They'll switch to laptops
My feeling is, given the mentality in most IT environments, customers will merely swap out desktop PCs for low-power-consumption laptops rather than use Sun Rays. I know from a security perspective this doesn't make sense, but when have "security measures" made sense in the scenarios you've covered in the past?

I think you're right when it comes to server rooms and data centers. I think Sun will have a marketable product that customers will pay attention to. The question is how quickly will the established players come out with their own energy-efficient solution. My guess is they'll come out with one pretty quickly that may not come close to Sun's servers in terms of performance, but will come close in terms of power savings. And they won't have to match or beat Sun. All they have to do is come close. If that happens it would up the ante on Sun and probably cause most customers to just switch to established solutions, because going with familiar vendors feels safer and there's less of a "bang for buck" difference between them. I feel I can make this prediction with confidence because this is how the established players have solved problems like this before. They never go for the elegant solution. They go for brute force but cheap on capital outlays.
