A correction(?)
and a new proprietory OS called VMS - that eventually became the basis for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

The first version of Windows NT was 3.5, not 4.0.

Also, I think its not correct to say VMS formed the basis of NT. It is true that some ex-DEC people were involved, in particular David Cutler, and it is undeniable that their experiences in VMS shaped NT to some extent, but "formed the basis of" is simply incorrect.
