Democrats, Labor (Australia) and OpenSource supporters are hypocrites
It never ceases to amaze me the hypocrisy of many people whether they are individuals voting in politics or people simply supporting Apple, Google or Open Source and hating Microsoft or the Republicans etc.

If someone doesn't agree with them, they do exactly what they accuse their opponents of doing - bullying, intimidation, blackmail, disingenuous attacks, attempts at revisionist history and a high and almighty attitude that they are right and therefore everyone else is wrong.

Of course there are always bad weeds in every garden who stoop to tactics like those mentioned in the article no matter what side of the fence you sit on whether that's politics or technology but it always amazes me how ZDNet, many posters and Open Source organisations who are in the minority of views try so hard to preach their views to others and then criticise others when they don't agree with them.

Just take a look at the sentiment expressed towards Microsoft on ZDNet whether it is by staff writers or people who post comments - overwhelmingly negative and yet this does not represent the majority view of IT Managers, companies or consumers.

And, if these people don't agree with the majority vote or majority views they simply challenge it and challenge it and make accusations of conspiracy theories or vote rigging and personally attack those who disagree with them.

These people claim they represent choice and yet they prophesise, bully, intellectually blackmail and dictate that their views are superior to anyone who disagrees = in my book that smacks of hypocrisy.

Oh and by the way I don't vote on ideological lines anymore (Liberal or Labor in Australia) or on how popular a personality is. I vote for the best policies, the best skills, the best qualities and the best experience and sometimes that will result in being on the left and sometimes that will result in being on the right.

Unfortunately too many people forget history as well as the results and ramifications of simply voting someone in to vote someone out or voting for someone because a candidate can speak well and has popstar appeal.

The same can be said about technology. Take Apple - great at marketing but their computer products aren't really that superior to others but people simply follow the marketing spin rather than the substance. Is there really objectively anything wrong with Vista or is Mac really any better than Windows - no, but perception and hype is the reality of today and if you say something enough times over and over again, eventually it becomes the 'truth'.
