The essence of what you're saying here is that thin client is better than thick client. You don't exactly use those terms and you throw in a bit of anti-Microsoft rhetoric, but focusing on the underlying principals (as you correctly recommend), this is a thick vs thin client pitch.
(I suspect you're about to tell me a Sun Ray isn't a thin client, but Sun use that term to describe them)
Anyway, for fun, I ordered a Wyse S10 this morning (about ?220). If it works well, maybe they'll form an alternate proposal on some future tender. (And I'm wondering if they'll work well in the UAT lab).
