Just what is Linux?
Linux is JUST the kernel, GNU Linux is the OS core. Many, many add-on packages are included in a Linux distro. Unlike Windoze, the Linux distro is made up of many different independent programs - each one with it's own ownership and licensing.

There is no way for Linux to "win". If someone wrote a crappy C program that used insecure ports for communication - Linux will be blamed. If someone used a generic user id without a password for the POS system, Linux will be blamed. If the POS system used Apache and it had a flaw, Linux will be blamed. If the POS system used unencrypted email to send orders - Linux will be blamed. I think you see the point.
