Well of course. If you do *anything* that makes you look like you actually give a d*mn, then you'll stand out from your bovine-like colleagues. That means you'll get noticed and that is the first step on the faster-career ladder.

An enthusiastic employee is at least as valuable as a talented one. A talented, enthusiastic employee is the best of all. It does not apply to just IT or Linux.
