Other problems...
... are caused by definitions and boundaries. For instance what was the penultimate of the NT line? Was it 3.51? NT4? XP?

Was Win95 the true penultimate of the 9x line because ME was a hybrid?

Win3.11 was a penultimate ony if you count the special Chinese version which was Win3.2, otherwise it is Win3.0 which ran at half the speed of 3.11.

As for DOS, 3.x was succeeded by DOS4, DOS5, DOS6 and DOS7 and DOS5 had a good reputation.

Sorry Murph but this blog entry isn't even close to standing up. Delete it before too many read it and give us a real story.
