You obviously dont run/own a business
If I loose 10% of my business because a stupid IT firm/person I
hired is too lazy to code - I would fire that IT firm. However, many
small businesses are taken to the cleaners by MS oriented support
and outsourcing. IT firms find it cheaper to hire MS trained
programmers right out of community colleges and churn out crap.
In my industry (manufacturing) if I dont follow standards, I get sued
and I loose marketshare. In IT no-one gives a damn about
standards.
