Cheaper hardware makes no difference
You are arguing pennies here. 6 grand for an Apple, 9 grand for a Sun, and 12 grand for an IBM, sounds like there's a price advantage, but add a 15k Websphere package with a 20k Oracle database and you quickly see your "savings" dissapear. Hardware costs are but 10% of the total bill (including maintenance), so why go cheap?
